Science - Earth Materials

Earth Materials Notebook

Using the FOSS curriculum, the unit was structured around Earth Materials Notebooks. Each student had their own notebook, and they recorded their observations each day. We used other activities and discussions to supplement the curriculum.

Comparing Mock Rocks and Cookies

As a formative assessment, students had a prompt to compare mock rocks and cookies. We discussed similarities and differences before students wrote their essays. We aimed to see whether students understood key vocabulary from the unit and if they could use evidence from the experiments that we had done.
